Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking starts at the end of November

On 19 November 2021, the Council of the EU adopted the Regulation establishing the Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking (KDT JU), the successor of the ECSEL JU. The multibillion tripartite partnership will boost the electronic component and systems technology development, and so contribute to keep Europe at the forefront of such extremely competitive global market. All ECSEL JU activities will be taken up by the new KDT JU. Active projects continue, staff stay the same, here to assist the stakeholders in this important venture.

What are the next steps?

KDT JU will start on the same day that the Council Regulation is published in the Official Journal of the European Union, currently expected on 30th November 2021.

The KDT JU’s founding partners - the European Commission, on behalf of the European Union, the Participating States and 3 European Industry Associations (Aeneas, Inside, EPoSS) - will then nominate their representatives to the KDT JU Boards (Governing Board and Public Authority Board) and start being operational in the first half of December.

The provisional calendar of the first calls of the KDT JU is available here
