The EU Chips Act has been signed

In a significant milestone for the European semiconductor industry, Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament, and José Manuel Albares Bueno, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation on behalf of the Spanish Presidency of the Council, have signed the European Chips Act.

The EU Chips Act, first unveiled by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on September 15, 2021, comes as a response to the growing demand for semiconductor technology. With an investment of €43 billion in public and private investment, the Act is set to create a strong semiconductor industry within Europe, prepare for potential future chip shortages, and bolster manufacturing activities within the Union.

By fostering collaboration, innovation, and resilience in the semiconductor sector, the signing of the EU Chips Act marks a pivotal moment for Europe's technological leadership.
